Born in Stamford, he was the son of the late George J and Rose Roman. He was predeceased by his brother George P. Roman. A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Claire F. Roman,his daughters, Cathy Portillo of New Haven and Marion Rodriguez of Stratford, six grandchildren, Catherine, Charles, Laura, Claire, Rebecca, and Anna; his brother John Roman of Monroe, and several and nieces and nephews.
He attended Rogers School and Wright Tech. A few of the many contributions he made to the Church include: running the bingo at St. Benedicts Church and being a catechist at St. Mary’s and Holy Name in Stamford. Richard was retired after working at Zeus Electronics in Port Chester, NY and Peoples United Bank. He enjoyed traveling, cooking and playing pinochle and he was a lifetime NY Giant football fan as well as a San Francisco Giant fan. Richard was known for his great sense of humor and was loved by all.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, September 20th from 2 to 6 pm at the Spadaccino and Leo P Gallagher & Son Community Funeral home in Monroe, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, September 21 at Our Lady of Grace Church in Stratford, CT at 10:00am.
