

Robert R. Crnic beloved husband of Nada Crnic died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was born April 26, 1926 in Zagreb, Croatia. He was the son of the late Rudolf and Irine (Fisher) Crnic. He was a 38 year Monroe resident. He escaped the communist bloc from former Yugoslavia in 1955. He learned the printing trade in West Germany where he assisted in the reproduction of classical pictures from old artists. He also worked for many companies after emigrating to this country in 1962. He eventually retired from Graphic Color Plate in 1988 where he also assisted in the printing of magazines such as Life and National Geographic. He enjoyed nature and had a passion for gardening, tinkering around the house and his grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was a living testament to the old saying that “It’s not what you achieve, but what you overcome.” Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Robert Zoran Anton and his wife Sandy of Bethel; Edwin Milan and his wife Maria of Coventry and four grandchildren Robert, Alexa, Benjamin and Samuel. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, Monroe, CT on Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 6pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. A private burial service will be held for the family at Maple Grove Cemetery in Easton.
