SALVATORE GIOVANNI ZUCARO, age 53, beloved husband of Lisa Schiavo Zucaro, took his last breath on earth and his first in Heaven on Monday, August 28, 2017. He lived in Monroe, CT for the past 26 years and was born in Paternopoli, Italy on September 10, 1963. He is the son of Antonio Zucaro (predeceased) and Assunta Zarrella Zucaro of Stamford. Sal grew up in Stamford and attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and J. M. Wright Tech High School. He later attended University of Connecticut earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Sal spent over 30 years in the field of engineering working for Sikorsky Aircraft, Tellabs, and DRS Technologies and held varied positions, his latest being Vice President of Engineering.

Sal was a family man and a father first and foremost. He was a proud supporter of his son Anthony’s football accomplishments at Masuk High School and Trinity College. He was very proud of his children’s successes, as his daughter is a school teacher and his son is presently attending law school. He loved vacationing in Vermont, Myrtle Beach and Florida, but none more than his beloved birthplace, Italy. He loved relaxing at the Zucaro homestead and simply speaking his native Italian language to neighbors, friends and family.

He looked forward to football season as he was a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan. He always rooted for his alma mater Uconn Husky Men’s Basketball team, and his beloved Azzuri Italian International team during the World Cup. His most treasured moments were all the weekends he spent racing down the ski slopes at Okemo with his children.

He is deeply missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Lisa Zucaro and his two children Christina Zucaro and Anthony Zucaro. Mother Assunta Zucaro of Stamford, his sisters Maria Palladino and Connie Piotroski of New Canaan; his brothers-in-law Dario Palladino, Greg Schiavo, and Edmund Piotroski, sisters-in-law Teri Schiavo and Maria Schiavo, and mother-in-law Sarah Schiavo. My sincere condolences to the Zucaro family and friends for losing Sal. I met Sal only a handful of times through collaborations with my UConn research group, and I was amazed by his personality, passion for work, and sincerity. Sal was definitely a sharp thinker and very knowledgeable, while being down-to-earth and humble. We will miss Sal, but I am sure that he is now in a much better place. May his soul rest in peace.
