Sr. Theresa Bukowska

She was born on July 14, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to Laura (Gorka) and Marion Bukowski. Sister was the youngest of three children and the only girl. Sister attended St. Mary of Czestochowa Elementary School and Nazareth Academy High School both in Philadelphia, PA. On January 8, 1956, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, professing her temporary vows on August 12,1958 and her final vows on August 11, 1964.

For 46 years she taught in Elementary Schools in Norwich, Ct, Springfield, MA and Brooklyn/Queens, NY. Upon retirement in 2004, Sister continued to teach CCD classes at St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, Brooklyn, until September of 2018. In October of that year, she retired to Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent in Monroe, Connecticut. Here, through her deep faith, great love, wit, and humor, she shared her special gifts with all the sisters with whom she lived.

Sister Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Marion Bukowski, and her brothers, Richard and Henry. She is survived by her nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

The wake and funeral for our dear Sister Theresa will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Monroe, CT. Visitation will begin at 10am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am.
