

Susan Elizabeth O’Rourke, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family by her side on Friday, July 31, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 67 years old.
Susan was born in Kingston, NY on September 5, 1958 to Paul Stauble and the late Shirley (Martini) Stauble. She was a 1976 graduate of Kingston High School and attended SUNY Potsdam, earning a bachelor's degree in computer science. She was employed by IBM as a systems programmer for over 30 years prior to her retirement in 2016.
Susan married Sean O’Rourke on October 15, 1988 and had a loving marriage for 37 years. They spent a total of over 46 years together. They had two daughters, Shana and Sarah, who were the light of her life.
Susan was a resident of Monroe, CT since 1998, and volunteered for the local Girl Scouts for 20 years, serving as a troop leader and registrar.
Susan was a kid at heart, who loved the magic of Disney World and Christmas, and most of all she loved Disney World at Christmas time with her family. She was very close with her family and enjoyed many vacations with her sisters and their families to the Jersey Shore, Disney World, and yearly camping trips.
Susan will be remembered for her sweet personality, kindness, generosity, passion for fun, and her belief in miracles. She was a devoted wife and mother who will be greatly missed by many.
Susan and her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her medical team at Yale New Haven, particularly Dr. Jacquelyne Gaddy and APRN Megan Shulman for their great care. They would also like to thank her sisters Cindi and Sally for their love, care, and support throughout her cancer journey until her final days.
Survivors are husband Sean O’Rourke of Monroe, daughters Shana Raymond (Tyler) of Newtown, and Sarah O’Rourke of Manhattan, along with her father Paul Stauble of Kingston, NY, sisters Cindi Jerkowski (Mike) of Tilson, NY, Sally McCardle (Butch) of Kingston, NY, brothers Paul Stauble (Irene) of Kingston, NY and David Stauble. Sisters-in-law Kathleen Antonelli (Louis) of New Windsor, NY, Gloria Ferraro (David) of Kingston, NY and Eileen O’Rourke of Kingston, NY. Along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great- nieces, and great-nephews.
A celebration of life for Susan is to be held at a later date.
