Susan Tenney

Born in Mainz, West Germany on March 28th 1953, she was the daughter of the late Madeline and Samuel Garlick. Susan graduated from St. Joseph High School and Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from Bridgeport Hospital as an Oncology Nurse Manager after 47 years of dedicated service.

Sue was a parishioner of Our Lady of Grace and she enjoyed scrapbooking and genealogy. She was an avid collector of Boyds Bears, salt & pepper shakers, snowmen and Lenox. Sue will be remembered for her Friday night family dinners, most notably her meatballs. Holidays were a special time for Susan, she most enjoyed Christmas with her family and baking her holiday pies. She was a kind, generous and loving person who never had a bad word for anyone. Sue was known for her good listening ears and sound advice. Game nights with her granddaughters were a source of great joy, filled with their favorite candies and foods, but rarely were games ever actually played. “What was said at Namma’s, stayed at Namma’s.” Sue was a lover of all animals, most especially her dog, Asia Marie.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, George E. Tenney Jr; daughters Dawn Barrett and her husband Michael and Jo-Ann (Jodi) Gorlo and her husband Brian all of Stratford; three granddaughters, Sara Barrett and Katherine and Gracie Gorlo of Stratford ; brother-in-laws, George Batza of Naugatuck, Vincent Tenney and his wife Gail of Stratford, and Gerald Tenney and his wife Kathy of Griswold. Uncles Dr. Philip and his wife Gladys LaMastra and John Anglace Jr; cousins Philip LaMastra Jr, Joseph LaMastra, Stephen LaMastra, Stephanie LaMastra, and John Anglace and his wife Candy. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David Batza, and daughter Debra Tenney.

Friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, May 29, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Friends are invited to meet directly at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, CT 06614 at 11 am for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 30th 2025. Interment to immediately follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery, 2675 North Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
