Theresa M. Fichtel

Theresa M. Fichtel, age 85, of Shelton passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born December 5, 1931 in Bridgeport, CT she was the daughter of Leonardo and Ermelinda DelleDonne. Theresa grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from Harding High School in 1950. That same year she married her loving husband William Fichtel, Sr. at Holy Rosary Church in Bridgeport on September 23rd . They were married for over 66 years. Theresa sang beautifully, enjoyed cooking, tag sales, playing the lottery and bingo. Her close friend Marilyn Hurvul taught her to crochet and Theresa loved giving away her handmade blankets as gifts. Her greatest pleasure of all was dedicating her time to caring for her family. In addition to her husband William, Theresa is survived by two sisters, Rita Stoverchy and her husband John of Stratford and Virginia LaQuesse of Bridgeport. Also, her five children and spouses: Lorraine Veccherelli and her husband Michael of Shelton, William Fichtel Jr. and his wife Lynn of Roxbury, CT, Della Hodson and her partner James Dennis of Bakersfield, CA, Allen Fichtel and his wife Gail of Amston, CT and Harold Fichtel and his wife Debra of Shelton. Also, ten grandchildren and spouses: Alex and his wife Erin, Monique and her husband Muin, Stephanie, Meghan and her husband James, Christopher and his wife Daphna, Rachel, David, Jason, Cortney and Brandon. In addition she has many cousins, nieces and nephews and five great grandchildren with two on the way! Theresa is predeceased by her parents, sisters Angie, Rose and Frances, and brother Anthony.
