October 8, 1976 – November 9, 2024
Bennie Eugene Kernen, 48, of Snohomish, WA passed away on November 9, 2024 after an accident occurred, doing what he loved; cruising on his motorcycle with friends. Born on October 8, 1976, in Santa Clara, CA. Bennie was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, veteran, and a friend who touched the hearts and lives of everyone he met.
Bennie worked as an HVAC technician, a career that reflected his tireless work ethic and talented, skillful hands. Bennie also served in the U.S, Army, which he took pride on and lived everyday with the brotherhood of the MIB. Outside of work, he found joy in being a “Papa” to his children and grandchildren. Bennie loved riding his motorcycle with his son and friends, fishing with his grandson, pampering his daughters, camping, tending to his garden that he shared with his wife, softball, and turning strangers into family with his warm heart and open arms. A master of the grill, Bennie’s steaks were legendary, as were the countless home projects he undertook to create a haven for his family.
Bennie’s deep love for country music led him to attend many Watershed festivals, and his love of life brought him to gatherings where stories were shared, laughter was loud, and friendships were celebrated to the fullest extent.
He is survived by his “one true love” and wife, Sara Kernen, and his children: Gina Kernen (Alex), Katie Fausey (Howard), Craig Kernen, “bonus” children Jordan Yandila, Layla Yandila, and Lukus McCarthy. He was the proudest Papa of his grandchildren Liam Kernen and Margaret Fausey. Bennie also leaves behind his father, Robert Kernen, his sisters Evelyn Espinola (Helder), Patsy van der Wal (Wolter), Faye Wilson (Tim), Tina Kernen, Terrie Kent (Steve), and Dorothy Gangle (Frank), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Bennie was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Kernen, and brother, Robert (Bobby) Kernen.
A “party” of Bennie’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Redmond Eagles, 11440 Avondale Rd NE, Redmond, WA, 98052, from 5 PM - 12 AM. Services and storytelling will take place from 6 PM – 8 PM.
Bennie’s legacy of love, generosity, adventure, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
