Daniel Patrick Robinson was born on February 20, 1981, weighing in at a minuscule 3 lbs, 4 oz. From the very start, Daniel fought for his life, and grasped every opportunity and challenge with both hands. Dan enjoyed being big brother to Greg and Steve, and loved his life on the family acreage in Usk, attending Cusick High School, following graduation with four years at WSU in Pullman. Upon graduation from WSU Dan moved back to Usk and went to work for Ponderay Newsprint. In 2007 Daniel’s kidneys failed, and he began dialysis, which he endured for 19 years. During those 19 years the valves in his heart slowly failed, and following a series of small strokes in April 2026, Daniel moved to Gold Bar as he could no longer drive himself to dialysis appointments. In late September he contracted pneumonia and sepsis, and though he battled and won over both, his heart valves were all damaged to the point that his ticker could not be fixed. Daniel spent his last day talking on the phone to friends and family, giving us instructions concerning “after” and then made the choice to withdraw the medicines that were keeping his heart beating, went to sleep, dying quietly in the hospital with his father, mother, and step-mom at his side in the early morning of October 14, 2026
Dan is survived by his father, Allan Robinson, his mother, Peggy Welsh, his step-mom Sonya Robinson, step-father John Friel; family member Jack Welsh, five brothers, Greg and Steve Robinson, Corey Hall, Doug and Chris Bailey, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles, and aunts. He lived life fully, and faced every challenge with a smile and a wry sense of humor.
Beloved, and Missed
