Donavon E. (Don) Anderson, 88, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015. Born and raised in Milan, MN. Don was a veteran of the US Navy. After years of working in outpatient treatment for addiction Don was hired to assist in opening the then new Alcoholism Treatment Center at Valley General Hospital in Monroe, WA. Don retired from there in 1990. Don is survived by his wife Norma Jean, daughter Catherine Boardman of Port Angeles, WA, and son Mark Steven Anderson of San Francisco, CA, step-children, Cyndee Lawson, Lisa Nilsson, Denise Rekdal, all of Kirkland, WA, and Mark Brown of Bothell, WA, sisters Maryln Handeen, Gwen Morem, Phyliss Hauck, all of MN, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Don loved golf, gardening, canning sour kraut and pickles, and spending time with his children and grandkids. Don was a positive force in all that he did, and had a wonderful sense of humor. The family will be gathering to hold a celebration in honor of Don’s life.
