Joseph Edward Powers, born October 10, 1932 to Edward and Helen Powers in Seattle, WA, departed this life on October 27, 2016 in Monroe, WA. He was 84. Joseph proudly served his country in the US Army. In earlier years he had enjoyed running marathons, golf, cooking, and gardening. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan, sons David A. Powers (Gwen) of Walla Walla, Jim Powers of Monroe, and Brian Powers (Stephanie) of Monroe, brothers Richard Powers of Bothell, Daniel Powers of Wenatchee, and Michael Powers of Stanwood, granddaughter Brittney, and great-granddaughter Olivia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Powers, and a sister, Pat Rutan. A Funeral Mass honoring Joseph’s life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 1pm at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church, 601 W. Columbia St., Monroe, WA 98272. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the church.
