

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our dear one, Kylie Kypreos, who passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2026. Kylie touched countless lives during her 51 years here on earth, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Kylie was born in Gold Bar, WA on April 11, 1975, and graduated from Sultan High School, Class of 1993. Kylie later earned her Bachelor’s Degree from SPU and a Master’s Degree from Seattle University. She called Seattle home for the past 33 years. Kylie was a beloved middle school teacher for Seattle Public Schools. She spent 27 years at Catherine Blaine K-8, where she positively impacted the lives of thousands of students. Kylie was an extremely dedicated teacher, who inspired a love of learning both in the classroom and beyond. She enjoyed nature, hiking, camping, and traveling, particularly when she could be out in the sunshine. She also spent much of her down time gardening, reading, puzzling, and quilting. Kylie was passionate about advocating for those in need, both in her community and around the world. She gave her time, talents and resources freely, always treating others with dignity and respect. Spending time with family was also very important to Kylie. She leaves behind her loving husband, Brian Mathews, daughters Ayan Jama, Ephrata Siyum, Saron Yergaw, and Selam Tekle, parents Bill and Linda Kypreos, siblings Seth and Kelsie Kypreos, and grandchildren Sumaya Haji, Mahir Haji, Mahraz Haji, twins Sana Sheikh and Sanaya Sheikh, Josiah Yergaw, Seliholm Yergaw, and Elroi Yergaw. Kylie was cherished by her church families at Monroe Covenant and Bethany Presbyterian, as well as by members of her book club with whom she met monthly for more than 20 years. Kylie was intelligent, articulate, compassionate, and feisty. Her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of loved ones all over the world. A celebration of Kylie’s life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations in Kylie’s name may be made to World Relief.
