OBITUARY

Lars Larsen Myhre

August 22, 1933September 24, 2019

Lars Larsen Myhre, 86, of Monroe, WA passed away peacefully at his home on 9/24/2019. Lars was born in Sykkylven, Romsdal, Norway on 8/22/1933 to Lars Bastianson Myhre and Lisa Birgitte Aure. Lars married Marion Mensing (nee Storbakken) on 6/7/1975 in Ballard, WA.

Lars came to America in the late 1950's and worked in the construction industry in downtown Seattle. Then he began his work in the Alaskan fishing/crabbing industry and did this for the majority of his life. When he retired from fishing, he then went to work for the Monroe School District for 7 years when he retired in 2004 at 71 years old.

Lars enjoyed fishing at the Snohomish River in Monroe, doing woodworking projects for himself and the family, and making heirloom items for his family and especially his grandchildren. He always fixed everything from pluming, electrical work, roofing, and building structures. He always kept busy up until his illness overcame him.

Lars is survived by his step-children: Daryl L. Nelson, Dennis D. Nelson (Mary), Monica G. Talley (Chauncey), Jenny L. Swezey (Keith), 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces in Norway and Washington State.

Lars is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marion J. Myhre, step-children Cynthia M. Ervin and Daniel R. Nelson, great-granddaughter Lucy Rose Wehmeyer, and all his siblings: Bastian, Karen, Hjellaug, and Odd, all of Norway, and Petter of Lynnwood, WA.

Lars was a good, honest man. He was strong and stubborn! He was always there to help any of us, his family, in any time of need. He had a great sense of humor, joking around even to the end of his life. Even though we are his adopted family, he treated and loved each one of us as his own. He was a part of our lives for 45 years and he was very much loved and respected. He will be missed immensely! I can still hear his favorite response "Okey dokey" when saying goodbye. Lars, you are now free of pain, may you rest in eternal peace.

No memorial services will be held per the decedent's wishes. Inurnment will be in the mausoleum along with his wife at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Everett, WA. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.

It’s difficult to find the words to express the sorrow of Lars passing. Lars was a man of strength, stability, and honor in our lives. He had a witty sense of humor and love for all of us. As the sorrow lessens I will always have the many great memories I shared with Lars through the years fishing in Alaska and family get togethers. Love and respect. RIP Pops
