He graduated from High School in 1959 and joined the Army to serve as a Military Policeman until 1965. After the service he set roots in Washington State and started his long career in Landscaping. In 1964 he married Marilyn Berndt and they had two sons, Mark Betschart born 1965, followed by Matthew Betschart in 1970. By the early 80’s the boys and their dad ended up settling in Monroe, WA, where he met his wife, Shirley. On April 26, 1985 Lawrence Betschart and Shirley Paddock were married. They stayed in Monroe until 2004 when they moved to Smokey Point, WA. With over 40 years in the Landscaping Industry, Larry finally retired in 2012 from Premier Fields of Snohomish, WA.
Larry is survived by his children: Mark Betschart, Matt Betschart, Leesa and Daniel Jones, David and Lori York, Laurie and Tim Roberts; sister, Toni Willis; grandchildren: Kevin Betschart, Kayleigh Betschart, Jeremy Andrews, Christy Shaner DeSpain, Aleesha Pope, Cody Shaner, Jered Shaner, Joshua York, Alex York, Michael Harlan, Carson Jones and Kayla Jones; and Beloved great grandchildren: Laine, Alyssa, Lucy, Caitlyn, Hailey, and Kane.
Preceded in death by his parents, George and Thelma Betschart; his wife, Shirley Betschart; brothers, Jack, Butch; and sister, Marilyn.
He will be dearly missed by so many, but we find comfort in knowing that he has found his way home in heaven, together again, with Shirley and Teddy.
Services will be held at Purdy & Kerr with Dawson Funeral Home, 409 W. Main St. in Monroe on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. Private burial will be at Monroe I.O.O.F Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Gathering will follow at the Jones residence in Stanwood, WA.
