She was born on August 13, 1922 in Mount Vernon, WA.
I’ll always remember Mama for her loyalty and devotion to her family and friends. She took tender loving care of Daddy- even staying at his bedside all night at the hospital so she could be there when he awoke.
Her father was a carpenter and the family lived all over Seattle. She attended 11 schools before graduating from Ballard High. Sometime later she met our father who was teaching a night school class in Spanish. She never learned the language but the city girl did fall for the quintessential country boy. They married and eventually moved to a farm in Snohomish.
Margaret also had an impish side. She often told the story of how at 3 or 4 years of age she found her mom’s scissors and gave all the houseplants a trim right down to the stalks. Then she walked next door to her friend’s house and they gave each other haircuts until they were practically bald.
Mom enjoyed reading and always had her nose in a book. She liked watching the Seahawks or Huskies on TV – often giving very loud commentary from the sidelines.
Traveling gave her great pleasure. Mom could be ready at a moment’s notice if there was an adventure to be had.
She loved all of God’s creatures especially her little Pekinese dogs.
She had an unwavering faith that she would be reunited with her beloved husband Malyn of almost 60 years.
We will all miss her.
