Mark Tuohy went to be with our Lord on June 23, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, children: Jonathan, Eric (Danielle), Josh; grandchildren Abigail, Eric Jr., and Ellie. Also brothers Christopher (Cynthia), Gregory (Liz), brother-in-law Kelly (Theresa), mother Mary Ann Wolfe. He leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mark goes on to be reunited with his children Chad and Shawn; as well as his sisters Tina and Theresa and father Michael Lawrence and step-father George Wolfe.
To say Mark lived a full life is an understatement at best. Mark lived every chapter of his life to the fullest. He had so many amazing and profound experiences. He was a Captain in the US Army, he served on city council and was Mayor pro-tem of Sultan, he helped to run many public events and was the grant writer for the Volunteers of America Western Washington bringing in the funds to help countless families and individuals in need.
He loved his family and taught his children so much. He was a football and basketball coach, Cub and Boy Scout Troop Leader, created the Building Bridges program to help troubled teens, he was a visionary and knew how to motivate others.
He had his share of tragedy; losing two of his biological sons and a step-son as well as his sisters. Mark did not stop embracing and seeking new experiences in life, even though the losses were great. He gave more than what seemed possible all the time. He even lost part of his dominant hand as a young man and learned how to write and play the guitar with his other hand. He did not give up, he didn't know the meaning of the word quit.
His great faith gave him the strength to keep picking up the pieces every time life tried to knock him down. He would always say 'only through God can I do anything'. This example we will carry on for him and ourselves.
He enjoyed getting outdoors; hiking, boating, water-skiing, snow-skiing, camping, fishing, hunting, white-water rafting, playing tennis, basketball, and football. He shared and taught his family how to enjoy these things too.
Mark had the ability to make and keep friends for a lifetime. He leaves a great network of support behind for his wife and family. Everyone that met Mark felt the love he had inside for them and knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he wanted the best for those that crossed his path. He loved to inspire and encourage folks along their path and especially in their walk with God.
Funeral Mass for Mark will be held at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church (Monroe) on June 29th at 11AM. The Tuohy family thanks everyone for their support, prayers, and love during this difficult time.
