Born on April 23, 1951, in Seattle, Washington, to William and Patricia Stotko, Mary moved as an infant to the family farm in Maltby. She attended grade school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Everett and graduated from Monroe High School, where she met the love of her life and future husband of 55 years, Rodney E. Hewitt.
After high school, Mary entered the dental field and worked at the office of Dr. Robert E. Wilcox. She later continued her career with Dr. Phil Redd until retirement, earning the respect and affection of coworkers and patients alike. In addition to her dental career, Mary was a successful representative for Tiara and Christmas Around the World, achieving numerous incentive trips to exotic destinations—proof of her dedication and charisma.
Mary and Rod were married on December 20, 1969, and built a life together on the Hewitt family farm in Monroe. They lovingly raised four children and created lifelong memories cheering them on in sports, traveling as a family, and spending cherished vacations in their beloved second home in Chelan, Washington.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Rod; her children: Rod Hewitt Jr. (Renee), Melissa Reiner (Jason), Sarah Holly (Anthony), and Andrew Hewitt (Ariel); and her grandchildren: Dylan and Connor Reiner, MacKenzie Hewitt, Jagger and Jovi Holly, Ava, and baby Hewitt.
She also leaves behind an extended family of sisters, a brother, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews—each of whom held a special place in her heart and shared unique, cherished bonds with her. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, sister, and brothers.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Snohomish, Washington. Prior to the service, The Chaplet of Divine Mercy and viewing will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Following the Mass, family and friends are warmly invited to a reception at the home of Rod Hewitt Jr. in Monroe, Washington.
In keeping with Mary’s vibrant spirit, funeral guests are encouraged to wear colorful attire, especially her favorite color—green.
