Very sad to hear of the untimely Death of Matthew - i knew him well when he Joined Plant Protection division of ICI Ltd later Zeneca and Syngenta at the Yalding, Maidstone, Kent, UK works as one of 4 of the first intake of Engineering Apprentices. He was a lively and articulate young man with a high interest in technology and IT.  He was a popular lad and got on well with all he worked with. Memories keep coming back to me. All of them feel so short, but also so bright and cheerful. The day on the boat. Pictionary Night. Chats in the back garden. Sledding. All of them so wonderful and filled with laughter.
My last real, full conversation with Matt was a private one. I’ve been immune compromised throughout the pandemic. Because of that, my world became very small. Trying to figure out how to get back to “real life” has been tricky. Everything felt unsafe still. One night in February, a group of us were chatting in the living room. My hesitation to do much was the topic at hand. At one point everyone except Matt and I left the room to get more tea. Matt turned to me and told me he thought I should just live my life. That life was short and you never knew what was around the corner. He used Sam’s cancer as an example. He told me to do the things I wanted to do and not to be afraid. That was only 4 months ago. You really do never know what life is going to bring. I keep thinking back to that conversation. I think I’ll carry it with me the rest of my life. 
Thank you Matt. I love you my friend. It was an absolute honor to know you and I miss you.

My darling baby brother, you were a pain in the derrière from the day you were born, the only person I know who, at the age of 18 months, was able to break the safety glass on Mum’s precious coffee table and destroy indestructible Tonka toys!!! Christopher and I took you on outings and holidays when you were little just to give Mum and Dad a rest. You dumped Wixie off the neighbour’s seesaw a few days before our wedding date and she broke her arm (luckily the wedding was delayed). You were there when my marriage went wrong with your strong arms around me. You welcomed Chris into the family, which means so much to both him and me. I will love and miss you forever. Matthew, like his father Fred, is and will be sadly missed.

He will be missed so much by his wife Sam, son Tarron and everyone who knew and had an association with Matt.

It’s taken me a while to think about what to write and know that whatever I write will not do justice to the awesome man that you were.  I was so desperately sorry to hear of your passing.  

It was really great spending some time with you when you were back in the UK.  Seeing your amazing smile, humble and kind nature and having great chats about family and sharing a drink or two is something I’ll remember forever.  I am gutted that we didn’t spend more time together and will have that regret forever.  You’ve been taken way too soon Matthew and I will miss you loads.   

I read a message the other day that you sent me not long after my brother passed away, including “Our family lost a good man, I’m sincerely heartbroken and sorry, I had the utmost respect for Ian and always will”.  Now I can’t believe I am writing those same words about you.  “Our family has lost a good man, I’m sincerely heartbroken and sorry, I had the utmost respect for you Matthew and always will”.  Take care of each other and the family up there for me.  Rest in peace Matthew.  Love you xx

I can’t believe you’re gine, it was such a shock to hear the news. Life can be so unfair x I have such lovely memories of  us growing up together playing in the orchards, watching horror movies together at 10 which were meant for 18 year olds, climbing trees, toasting marshmallows on an open fire, the list goes on.  We were always getting in trouble. Unfortunately with life we grew apart and you moved abroad. I’m so lucky that we caught up at uncle  Fred’s funeral and that we both laughed as we relived our childhood. We were so lucky as children, no mobiles phones, health and safety etc. , we just 
had to be home before it got dark. You will be missed ❤️ sleep tight x 

Dad I don’t think there is enough words to be able to describe the type of person you are. 
The time spent and memories together will forever be cherished in my heart, you taught me so much not only the day to day things but how to be man and go through life being the best version of myself. I am so incredibly proud to call you my Dad and for me to be your son, a gift more valuable than money can buy. I’ll miss you day in day out and carry on being the man you know I could be. Matt, I can't express with words how much I'll miss hanging out with you. Your energy and smile were the highlights of my day when I came to work. Our chats were what got me through bad days and made good days the best. Will miss you with all my heart because you made me and my life better. I'm sorry I couldn't give you back the time we lost after moving away but I know you understand.

Sam & Tarron, you folks are the living reflection of Matt's light into the world. I'm so sorry you folks must go through this, and I hope our time together with Neni and the kids helped to make burden a bit less heavy.
