December 30, 1984 – July 14, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Michael David Hartman—lovingly known as “Mikey”—of Granite Falls, Washington. He was 40 years old.
Michael passed away on July 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. Born on December 30, 1984, to his adoring parents, Ronald and Stefanie Hartman, Mikey was the youngest of five children and the cherished “baby” of the family. His three older sisters and one brother showered him with love, and his bond with his brother quickly grew into a lifelong best friendship.
Michael graduated from Snohomish High School in 2003. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Michelle Bass, and in 2017, they welcomed their daughter, Hayden Grace—who became the light of his life. Michael was a devoted father: gentle, playful, and endlessly proud. His love for Hayden radiated in all he did, and their bond was truly unbreakable.
From a young age, Michael was fascinated by heavy equipment—a passion that turned into a meaningful career with the Washington State Department of Transportation (DOT). Known for his precision, determination, and strong work ethic, he took immense pride in his role. In 2024, he proudly won the Skid Steer competition at the Annual Equipment ROADeo and was set to compete at the national conference in September—a true testament to his skill and dedication.
Outside of work, Michael embraced life to the fullest. He loved the outdoors—camping, riding ATVs, and spending time with his close-knit circle of friends. He also had a thrill-seeking side, which he expressed by participating in demolition derbies, always bringing his signature energy and enthusiasm.
Michael is survived by his cherished daughter and the center of his world, Hayden; his wife, Michelle; his parents, Stefanie Hartman and Ronald (Jean) Hartman; his siblings, Linda Rosengren, Michelle (Scott) Solver, Brenda Hartman, and Robert (Anne) Hartman; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were touched by his kindness, humor, and vibrant spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at 5300 Menzel Lake Road in Granite Falls, Washington, to honor Michael and the beautiful life he lived.
Michael’s presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave so freely will remain in our hearts forever.
