Dear Family,
While growing up, my family lived just up the road from Mr. & Mrs. Granger & what truly wonderful people they both were! 
A visit to their home was such a treat & we were always welcome, no matter how busy they were.
Although I could write pages, I have 2 favorite memories.  Come May Day, we'd create May Day baskets, fill them with wild flowers but by the time we reached their home, the "flowers" were wilted.  What to do!  We picked flowers from their flower bed, knocked on the door to proudly announce "Happy May Day!".  We were always greeted so warmly & not once were we scolded for picking those flowers.  In fact, we were always invited in & the aroma of something wonderful always permeated the air.  We'd sit, quiet as church mice, taking it all in...I can still see the beautiful coverings on the floors.  
Mr Granger was never without a smile for us even though he was seemed so bashful & he could be found working in the fields.  In those days, work was a 7 day necessity but even when age slowed Mr Granger down, he still loved his fields, his work.  We kids just loved them both so dearly. 
My most favorite memory is seemingly so unremarkable but Mrs Granger's orange cake is something I'll never forget and she always seemed to have it on hand.  I begged my mother to get the recipe from Mrs Granger for it but it just wasn't the same, even though it was delicious.  
If my mother needed something, we kids would make the trek to their home & I don't recall one time that they weren't more than happy to help.  
I believe it was Vivian that came to take care of us kids when my baby brother was born.  I wish I had been old enough to remember (I was nearly 2) but my older sisters remember her so warmly & somewhere there's a picture of her holding our new baby.  
I know this is long but I couldn't pass up the chance to go down memory lane again and put down in words just how sweet it was to have two people who left indelible memories for me.  
To me, both Mr and Mrs Granger will always be a part of me & I hope my memories of them will somehow ease the sorrow of Mr Granger's passing.
