

Dick was born April 13, 1935, in Prescott, Arizona to Vance and Eva King, and was the youngest of five children. The family moved to the Monroe area in 1940, which became home.
One highlight of his youth was winning back-to-back state championships in 1952-53. The Monroe basketball team was honored in 2010 by the Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame for this feat, Monroe's 1st and only.
A self-made man, Dick worked in the logging, building and construction fields, successfully running his own business, King Custom Homes, for over 40 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Audrey King (Miller), his wife of fifty years; his four siblings, June, Vance, Betty and Barbara; and grandson Joshua Anderson.
He is survived by his children, Lora Cruze (Kevin) of Kirkland, WA, and Debbie Edwards (Randy) and Richard King II (Julie) of Monroe; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and his second wife, Sharon King (Preston, Johnson); and her five children; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Purdy and Kerr with Dawson Funeral Home, 409 W. Main St., Monroe, WA. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for Summer 2026.
