Roger proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Dental Technician. He spent three years at Camp Pendleton in Southern California and one year in Okinawa, Japan. While serving, he met the love of his life, Margaret (Peggy) Breese. They were married in 1971 in Los Angeles, California, and shared a loving marriage for more than five decades.
In 1973, Roger and Peggy were baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were later sealed together for time and all eternity in the Oakland California Temple in 1975. Roger was a faithful member of the Church and served in many callings, including Ward Clerk, Primary Teacher, Youth Teacher, Scout Leader, Stake Young Men Counselor, Sunday School Teacher (ministering to prisoners at the Monroe Correctional Complex), and Ward Missionary. He also served a two-year service mission working with the Church’s Addiction Recovery Program.
Roger graduated from Wenatchee High School and then after his time in the Navy, he attended Wenatchee Valley College and later transferred to the University of Washington. He paused his studies to support his growing family but later returned to complete both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Computer Systems from City University, and a Master of Science in Managing Systems Software Development from Carnegie Mellon University.
Roger enjoyed a long and successful career as an enterprise systems architect at Boeing. His contributions, innovations, and leadership played a key role in many successful projects across the company. An avid outdoorsman, he was passionate about hiking and mountain climbing and loved sharing these adventures with family and friends throughout the Pacific Northwest. He was also deeply committed to the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a longtime volunteer and leader who positively influenced the lives of many young men.
Roger is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy); his children, Tamara Hogg (Tim) of Bothell, Chris Hill (Elizabeth) of Lynnwood, and Darcy Lundquist (Daniel) of the Philippine Islands; his sister, Patricia Hail; and his grandchildren, Marius, Kael, Elianna, Lillian, Alistair, and Gabriella. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacy Hill, in 2012.
A funeral service honoring Roger’s life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 3:30pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 17332 Tester Road, Monroe, WA 98272.
