

Sandra May Walker, of Monroe, departed this life on May 6, 2026 at the age of 83. The second oldest of five children, she was born October 9, 1942 in Seattle, WA to Ralph and Margaret Gibson. She graduated from Monroe High School, Class of 1960. In 1961 she married Joe Stroem. Their son Timothy was born in 1963, followed by Terry in 1964. Joe tragically passed away in a car accident. In 1965, she married Norman Gail Walker. Their daughter Tamera Gail was born in 1966. Sandy or “Mah Wah” as she was often called by patrons, had worked for many years at the Sunset Tavern, the bowling alley, and the Holiday Inn. She also did accounting for Leroy Anderson and Ben Magnuson, as well as Jeno’s Restaurant for 15 years. Sandy is survived by her daughter Tamera Gail Walker, sons Timothy and Terry Walker, stepson Norman Walker Jr, sister Carol Candler, brother Thomas Gibson, grandchildren Kieva Walker, Danielle Walker, Ian Stroem, Madeline Walker, and Trent Walker, and 1 great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Gail Walker in 2006. Sandy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
