

Sylvia Sue Youngkrantz was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Monroe WA to Sanford and Martha Preston. She passed away peacefully on November 18, 2021, surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Sue is lovingly remembered for her sense of humor and warm presence by her sister, Sharon King, two children, Robert Poole and Patricia Poole, three grandchildren, Whitney Poole, Donnie DeFord, and Megan Shaw, and four great grandchildren. Sue was preceded in death by her second husband Walter Dale Youngkrantz, son Donald G. Poole II, and brother Sanford Preston. Truly the cornerstone of the family, Sue was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved hosting everyone for holiday gatherings, which were known for her famous peanut butter fudge. A natural caretaker, Sue had an overflowing amount of compassion and empathy for all she encountered , whether someone she just met or even providing a home for a stray dog or cat that she came across. Sue was a graduate of Monroe High School where she was a true Bearcat and was involved in many activities like Band, Orchestra, Cheerleading, Drill Team, and Tennis. Sue was also known as the First Evergreen State Fair Queen of Monroe, Washington in 1950 where she took on many rolls to support and contribute to her town and community. She was also heavily involved with the Sea Fair festivities. Her generous spirit was felt by her entire family and numerous friends. Her passion for helping others never wavered She will be missed by more people than can be counted. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 2:00PM at Purdy & Kerr with Dawson Funeral Home, 409 W. Main St., Monroe, WA 98272, (360) 794-7049.
