

Vito graduated from Monroe High School, attended Central Washington College and graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Pharmacy. He entered the Navy serving in the Korean War, honorably discharged from the Marine Corps as a medic. This experience introduced him to pharmacy, which became his chosen career. He was a successful pharmacist and entrepreneur, managing and owning several independent pharmacies in Bellevue, Redmond, and Mercer Island. He owned and operated Lakeside Mercer Drug on the south end of Mercer Island for 40+ years. He also owned a small burger joint, The Other End, in the same shopping center.
Vito was an active member of Jaycee's for many years and received multiple awards, including Man of the Year. He was actively involved in community development on Mercer Island and Bellevue. He was a principal founding member of Mercer Island Country Club serving as its first president. He served on the board of MI Youth and Family Services, and enjoyed serving on many committees at Glendale Country Club, ultimately as President.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community advocate, who enjoyed fishing, boating, tennis, and golf. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, including trips in their restored Model A.
Vito was preceded in death by his wife Ethylnn. He is survived by his children, Marisa MacMillan (David), Susan Quaranta, Michele Cashin (Fred), Mike Quaranta (Teri), Vito J. Quaranta, and 5 grandchildren: Ryan MacMillan (Kailey), Sean MacMillan (Meg), Joe Quaranta (Katie), Lauren Quaranta, and Daniel Quaranta.
His family takes comfort in knowing that he is reunited with Ethylnn in God's eternal embrace. Services will be held at Purdy & Kerr, Monroe, WA on Nov 29, 2025 at 11am. Memorials may be made to MI Youth and Family Services, or Friends of the Needy.
