In loving memory of Captain Wayne E. Wollard who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 16, 2025 at the age of 86. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great grandfather. His intelligence, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Wayne was born in Dunnegan, Missouri to Clarence and Eva Angeline Wollard on January 9th 1939. He attended Fairplay Highschool where he was Captain of the basketball and track teams as well as graduating as class Valedictorian. In 1957 he met the love of his life, Russella Sue Inman. He went on a blind date that was set up for his brother who could not attend, and so began a beautiful love story. Wayne attended Missouri State University and was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon Honor Society in Math. He obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mathematics and Physics. He entered the Navy in 1957 and became a Naval Aviator. After serving in the military for 9 years, Wayne would go on to enjoy a 33 year career as an Airline Pilot for United Airlines.
Wayne was the beloved husband of Russella for 63 years. They called many places home while he was serving in the military. After being hired by United, they settled in the beautiful Pacific Northwest to raise their family. Their love is a true example of respect, honesty, trust and loyalty.
Beyond his family, Wayne was known for his love of hunting, fishing, packing horses for trips to the mountains, woodworking, boating, learning and fixing anything. Whether he was at home in Monroe close to his family, fishing or hunting near his house in Banks Lake, or traveling with Susie, he was always thinking about what to build or design next.
He faced every challenge in his life with admirable strength and courage, and he instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of hard work and education. His knowledge, guidance and support were a constant source of strength for his family. He always said his ambition in life was to be a hero and role model for his wife, his daughters and his grandchildren. And he was.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Russella; his children, Paula (Paul) Judson and Angela Nelson; his Grandchildren, Trevor (Amanda Maye) Judson, Dylan (Megan) Judson, Amanda Nelson, Jessica (Jesse) Jarosky; his Great-Grandchildren, Joelle (3), Olivia (3), Davey Maye (1) Sophia (5mos), and Jameson Wayne (on his way!); Step Great-Grandchildren Mason (15) and Alaura (12),
