We honor you Today, on the 1st anniversary of your passing on to be with the Lord Jesus and so many of our loved ones, especially Mom.   We miss you and you will always be in our heart.

Dear Pop,

I never thought about what it would be like when you would no longer be here. You have always been such a key part of our lives; I never let myself consider what it might be like once you were no longer here with us.

I feel incredibly blessed that you and Mom are my grandparents. I am so thankful that you were my Pop.  I have so many memories of you that fill my heart with love and pride to be your “first” grandaughter.

We are grieving the loss of you – the most amazing man.  A devoted husband, a loved and respected father, and an adored grandfather. The world seems a little less vibrant without you in it, Pop.

But thankfully, this isn’t the final goodbye.

I know I will see you again with Mom and all our loved ones in heaven.

I love you so much and I will miss you every day.

There is no doubt that Papi was a strong and resilient man that loved and protected his family and added a smile to everyone with his humor or his charm. I will miss him being present but will hold on to him tightly in spirit. 

My Papi I love you so much now and always and will always appreciate everything you were for me. As you once told me when I was struggling and seeking peace in my heart, "Sleep with the angels" you are one, you walys been one, you're just home in our hearts now. 

To my Papi, 

I want to give you thanks for all your efforts in keeping your family taken care of and protected.  I know very well that your struggles, hard work and dedication were all to be able to give back  and feel secure as you've always talked about when having to be independent or starting a family. 

I want to thank you for teaching me how to live humbly and respectfully, to have ambition and work hard. You've shaped me in so many ways and I will always be grateful to your advice and guiding me towards a good path. For not just teaching me but also showing me respect, admiration and love without ever even needing to say it. 

I will miss your loud welcoming when we came to visit , I will miss our back and fourth cheek kisses when I would arrive or depart and watching you and Izzy develop your own greeting, giving each other "knuckles" when saying hello in a pandemic. I'll miss you making jokes about almost everyone and your silly way of sticking out your tongue at anyone that tried to tell you what to do,  my mom being one of them. It was always in good fun and just another way to try to make light of or laugh at a situation. I thank you for being hard on me academically and pushing me to do well. I thank you for being consistent with me always and showing you were proud. I will cherish memories with you.

If you've sat with papi at a get together then you know how he could be one of best times to be around. Always making jokes, smiling and laughing, dancing and always so fashionable. 

Don Tony gracias por acceptar me cuando comense con Cani.  Nunca  me voy olvidar todas las platicas que tuvimos.   Unas sobre las peliculas de Cantinflas y los actores de cinema.  Mas importante para mi fue cuando llego mi Mama de Merida.  Yo lo aprecio y jamas lo olvidare.  QUE DIOS LO TENGA EN SU SANTA GLORIA.  

Tio Tony,  I am sad that I didn't get to see you. But I know that I have been able to get updates on you from the family over there.  You were a very good man and helped me out when I  needed it especially with mom and grandma. I  remember you seating at the table with your coffee and reading the newspaper, giving us updates what was going on.

Papi... I'll always have fond memories of you, as long as I can remember you've had silver hair a long life you lived...
Pop in life I loved you dearly and death I love you still, from your life comes new life... you now have a great great grandson named Eli. Although who you are gone you are not forgotten as long as life and memory last your soul will live in me and those left behind...

A life to remember and keep alive. I love you Papi may you rest peacefully.

To the Márquez family, my deepest condolences on the loss of your Father, Sr. Antonio.  I fondly remember him since my early childhood.  We shared many family gatherings so he will always hold a special part in my heart, along with your Mom Nelly.  Whenever he saw me, he would always greet me - Hello Geocon from wherever he was which was a fond memory.  Sending prayers to all of you.  May he Rest In Peace.  Fondly Geoconda Ruiz-Hoffman.

I have great memories of him visiting our house in Texas from California and always arriving early in the morning with Tio Miguel.  We were typically sleeping when they arrived, but that was very shortlived and you would know why if you ever heard a conversation between my Tios. I always remember them bringing sweet bread with them and my Tio Tonio greeting us with a loud "Quiubole mijo, como estas?" 

One especially great memory I have of my Tio Tonio, was when he and Tia Nellie took me shopping before I left for college to San Antonio in 1992. They bought me a mini fridge, which I still have and use to this day, along with a mini boom box with a double cassette deck for my dorm room as a graduation gift. They made life away from home much easier for me with that trip to the store and thoughtful gift!

My mom was the youngest amongst the siblings in her family and almost 13 years younger than my Tio Tonio. Although he was far away in California, I know he looked out for his little sister and I will always love him and appreciate him for that. 

In reminiscing about my Tio, I have realized that he was 46 when I was born, the exact same age I am now. He lived twice as long as I have to date, and I hope that God blesses my life with just a sprinkle of the blessings he experienced in his life. I am grateful for having the opportunity to see my Tio Tonio on my last trip to California in September of 2019, when we took this picture together. You will always remain in my memories 

My condolences to the Marquez family. I respected Tio Tony, not only because of my upbringing but because of his persona. My memory of him is stoic and the intensity in his voice when he spoke. His voice is carried on in the family. Prayers are for his journey to our heavenly father. 

Dear Papa Antonio,
You will always be Papi to Mark and Julian. We have 48 years of memories shared throughout many family celebrations. One of many memories is seeing you dance with Mom Nellie. Mom Nellie must be so happy to have her dancing partner. RIP

As a young lad, I remember meeting my Uncle Tony a handful of times at Tio Antonio’s & Tia Concha’s house. My memories of him were as follows:
1. He was a friendly, engaging adult person who had a warm smile & treated even us kids as important to him.
2. He quickly connected me to my dad, Arturo (his cousin), & remarked how I had a striking resemblance to him.
These interactions warmed me much to him & I wish I would have had more of a visit ( than the brief 10 minutes) I spent talking to him at Uncle Enrique’s funeral a couple of years ago. My prayer is now as follows: Uncle Tony, please pray for us El Paso-bred Perezes and all our young children from your heavenly abode. May we always remain close in heart, if not distance, to our Perez-Peres-Marquez relatives during our lifetimes. God bless you, Uncle Tony!

I remember one day I went to Pops house and I parked behind his car.   When I got out I noticed that his mirror on driver's side was all taped up with duct tape, I went inside the house and asked with happen and apparently something got in pops way and knocked off the mirror.
Duct tape solved the problem, he was handy like that,  I laughed so hard.  I love you Pop.

You lived "Your Dash" to the fullest and honorably thru every journey you made around the sun with your loving jovial heart, sparkly personality and that hearty great sense of humor of yours, to the fullest. You will truly be missed - we will all keep your memory alive as we speak and reminisce of YOU and share all the wonderful memories you have left us. There was always nothing but love and laughter pouring out of my Tio's forever young heart ❤ never a dull moment when in his company.  It was a blessing to have him around and to be able to enjoy his company,  making so many wonderful memories, with him throughout his many blessed journeys around the sun.  I am so very thankful my little girl got to spend time and make such wonderful and cherished memories with her Tio-Abuelo Toño. He, without knowing, taught me thru example, the true meaning of what being a loving dedicated Grandparent was all about❣ He will surely be missed. His sparkly personality and great sense of humor are one of a kind and one that will forever live on through us, as we speak of him and reminisce of his physical time with us all. He was the very first patriarc and a very important pilar that formed and held the Marquez dynasty together, that taught us all what loyalty, love ad unity in a family is all about. What an incredible man he is and will forever be, a true example of each of his titles, living up to each and every one of them as a Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Great-Great Grandfather, with pride and love. I won't say good bye because we all meet again.
 But I will miss you especially when it was time to eat,  when you would  sit at the table and I would ask are you hungry and you would say no thank you. And I would still serve you and wipe that plate.  You were always was kind to me  and very respectful. And when you would make fun of tony. It was a short time I got to spend time with you.
