Bobby Joe Cook, Jr. was born on November 1, 1955 in Bakersfield, CA. He was the third of six children born to Bobby Joe Cook, Sr. (preceded in death) and Annie Lou Cook. Bobby is survived by his mother, Annie Cook of Duarte, CA; sisters Cynthia Cook of Altadena, CA, Jacqueline Hasty and Myrna Cook and brothers Wesley Cook and Timothy Cook of Duarte, CA, niece Angi Franklin-Brooks (and husband Marcus) of Altadena, CA; nephews Harold Carter, Jr. (and wife Tiphanie) of Corona, CA; Matthew Carter (and wife Ginger), of Amador City, CA; and Justin Cook of Altadena, CA; great nephews Nigel, Ian and Hendrix and great nieces Hailey, Harlie, Lennon (and Miss Rylie due in July 2021); and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Just like his dad, Bobby had a great sense of humor and he loved to make people laugh. People of all ages enjoyed being in his presence. Bobby also loved learning new things. He attended kindergarten in Compton, elementary school in El Monte and graduated from Bassett High School in La Puente in 1974. As soon as he started reading, Bobby's favorite "books" were the dictionary and the encyclopedia. His family nicknamed him 'A Walking Encyclopedia' and his mother (still) says (and his siblings and anyone who knew Bobby would, without a doubt, agree), "Bobby is the smartest one out of all of my
children"!
Bobby was also a very competitive athlete. He ran track and threw the shot put and bowled with the Southern California San Gabriel Valley Special Olympics along with his brother, Timothy. He loved playing cards and dominoes and would take on anyone who challenged him.
Bobby was introduced to the Truth through relatives. He then accepted a bible study and in 1976 he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His love for Jehovah was also very noticeable and impressive in his preaching work and he was constant and regular in the ministry until his failing health prevented him from being more active. In the 1980's, Bobby set a goal to be a regular pioneer and with Jehovah's help and support from family and friends, he auxiliary pioneered for a year and then was accepted as a regular pioneer and faithfully served for a year. Bobby always looked forward to fulfilling his assignments in the service meetings and as a ministerial servant of Jehovah.
Words of Appreciation for a Son and a Brother...……………………………………...
We thank Jehovah God for Bobby and we will be eternally grateful for the years we had loving, caring and spending time with him. We could not have asked for a more loving, patient and appreciative brother. He never complained and ALWAYS expressed gratitude to us, no matter how he was feeling that morning, afternoon or bedtime. May he rest in peace until we welcome him back in the resurrection. We will miss him.
His loving mother, sisters and brothers
"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Rev 21:4
