Christopher Leon Brys was born to parents Leon Dwayne Brys and Marita Ann Brys in Detroit Michigan on December 24, 1955. Christopher was the second son born into his family. His family moved from Detroit to California when he was 5 years old to the City of La Puente. He attended Saint Joseph Catholic School for Elementary through Junior High and Bishop Amat Highschool. He met his wife Olivia Brenner when they were both fifteen years old at a Halloween party. They quickly became each other's first love and soulmate. They married on January 17, 1976 in Arcadia, California at the Arboretum. In 1979 both Christopher and Olivia were baptized and gave their lives to Christ. In 1979 Christopher started working for an armored truck company where he would be employed for forty-two years. During his twenties Chris spent his years traveling with his newly wedded wife Olivia. They visited places like Hawaii, Mexico, and enjoyed cruises in the Mexican Riviera as well. After 9 years of marriage Christopher and Olivia wanted to start a family of their own. On August 29, 1984 they welcomed and gave birth to their first and only son Kevin Christopher Brys. Chris is known to be a very hands-on Father and Grandfather. Chris was very active in his sons' sports teams and his sons' various interests as his son grew up. Coaching and assisting in his baseball teams and helping build his son skateboarding ramps for Kevin and the neighborhood kids. A hardworking, hands on, never sitting still, “do it yourself” kind of guy. Always helping a neighbor, working on a home project, or working and gardening in the yard. Chris and Olivia were blessed and welcomed their first grandchild Maddox Brys in 2006, while gaining another grandchild, Maddox’s older sister Naia Carey. Chris and his family loved going to the beach and would spend summers renting a beach house to spend quality time with family and friends. Chris picked up surfing in 2011, a hobby he enjoyed very much. For many years Chris and Olivia would go every weekend to Newport Beach lifeguard tower 24 to surf and enjoy the sun. In 2018 and 2020 two more grandchildren arrived, Hudson and Reagan Brys. Chris could be described as the life of the party and the starter of all the “fun.” His exuberant and playful personality always shined through. Chris was a people person and a friend to everyone he met. He was never afraid to speak to anyone and strike up a conversation. Christopher was a Godly man of high moral and character. He was always willing to help, serve, and share the word of God. Chris retired from Garda Armored Transport in January 2021 after forty-two loyal and hardworking years for the same company. In March 2021 Chris was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. Fighting till the very end and his faith never wavering, God called Chris into heaven on July 23, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones and covered in prayer. His family has peace knowing his salvation has gained him entrance into heaven and is in the arms of our Lord and Savior. Chris is survived by his siblings, Gary Brys, Leanne Barry, and Henry (Hank) Brys, His Wife Olivia Brys, Son Kevin Brys and Daughter in law Emily Brys and four grandchildren, Naia Carey (16), Maddox Brys (15), Hudson Brys (2), and Reagan Brys (1).
