In 1956, the Martin family moved from Kansas to Monrovia, California, where Connie attended Monrovia High School and graduated in 1964. She married and moved to La Cañada in 1968, where she raised her four children, Scott, Tracy, John, and Katie, and built a life deeply rooted in family, faith, and community.
She worked as a credit manager for Sierra Leasing and later followed her entrepreneurial spirit by founding and operating the Lucky Duck Toy Store. She was also active in the La Cañada Chamber of Commerce, serving as president in 1993–94. In recognition of her dedication to the community, she received the Community Leader Award in 1996.
Connie believed in being involved and giving back to the community. She volunteered for the Flintridge Guild of Children’s Hospital, the Assistance League, and the La Cañada Jr. Baseball Association.
A woman of deep faith, Connie devoted time to the Right to Life League and was an active and faithful member of Saint Bede the Venerable Parish, where she served on the St. Bede’s Parish Council of Women. Her faith was central to her life and remained a source of strength and grace throughout her years.
Connie loved God and her children, but above all, she absolutely cherished her eight grandchildren: Connor, Kylie, Kevin, Kelsey, Julia, JT, Xander, and Helena. Her doors were always open, with a warm smile and a home-cooked meal waiting for family and friends. In her later years, she enjoyed being doted on by those around her and was recently blessed to become a great-grandmother to her first great-granddaughter, Kaia.
Connie's greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely to her family and community. She leaves behind memories of a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, woman of faith, and friend whose home and heart were always open.
Connie was filled with God's grace and passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, surrounded by her four children, who were lovingly by her bedside. She is survived by her two brothers and sister, four children, their spouses, eight grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the blessing of knowing and loving her.
