My father, Fred Orville Suisse and his parents, Ruby and Edward Suisse, moved from Roseville, Michigan to Inglewood, California in 1949. He attended Clifton Middle School and Monrovia High School where he graduated from in June of 1957. My Dad had a brother Anson Suisse who preceded him in death.
My father worked for Rosedale Nursery while he was in High School. After he graduated, he joined the Navy in 1957 and was active duty until 1960 in New York.
He met my mother Eileen back in New York and they returned to California to find work. They married in the City of Orange on January 6, 1961 and have been married for the past 60 years.
My Dad applied for work in Monrovia at the Fire Department, Police Department and the Post Office. It was the Post Office that reached out and hired him. At the Post Office he served as a supervisor for a while, but for most of his years, as the timekeeper. With his Navy service time (3 years) and his postal service time (50 years), he put in 53 devoted years to our government.
I am Fred and Eileen’s only living family member. Thank you for coming to honor my Father.
With love, hugs and kisses,
- Michelle Suisse and Eileen Suisse
