Helen “Nena” Perez, age 90, passed away on August 13, 2026. She was born on October 28, 1935, in Tucson, Arizona, to Enrique Quintero and Elena Rodriguez. Helen later made her home in California, residing in Duarte and Monrovia for many years.
Helen was a loving, strong, and devoted woman who treasured her family above all else. She was known for her strong personality, honesty, and unwavering commitment to protecting and standing up for those she loved. Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life, and she faithfully prayed each day for her family and loved ones.
Helen enjoyed sitting outside in her rocking chair with a cup of coffee and a cigarette, watching her favorite television shows, playing games on her phone and iPad, and listening to Vicente Fernández. She also cherished her faithful companion, Greñuda.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Cynthia; son-in-law, Geno; grandchildren, Raylene, Lorena, and Abel; great-grandchildren, Danny Jr., Liliana, Daisy, and Elijah; nieces, Ruth, Donna, and Angie; nephews, Leonard and Reno; and extended family and loved ones.
One of Helen’s greatest joys during her final months was meeting her great-grandson, Elijah, whom she had prayed for and waited so long to meet. Although their time together was brief, he held a very special place in her heart.
Helen will be remembered for her strength, faith, unforgettable personality, and the tremendous love she had for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory and love will continue to live on through the generations of family she leaves behind.
