Jan Michael Hoage

9/3/44 – 8/8/21

Our beloved Mike was born Jan Michael Hoage in Long Beach, to parents Jack Mason Hoage & Dorothy Louise Parker Hoage, nearly one year to the day before WWII came to an end. For that reason, his dad who was fighting with the Marines didn't get to meet him until after his first birthday. Mike's sister Barbara was born a little over 4 years later. When starting Kindergarten and being teased for his unusual first name, Mike dropped those three little letters and never looked back! :)

After the war, Jack went to medical school and became first a D.O. and then an OB-GYN, and the family lived in Glendale, Lancaster, San Marino and Montebello, where Mike graduated high school in 1962. He took some classes at Pasadena City College before joining the work force.

Mike met Kathi through mutual friends in 1970, and they eloped to Las Vegas and were married in October of that same year. They welcomed Dyanna at the end of 1973. Mike was a professional truck driver for most of his working years.

The Hoages settled in Arcadia in 1980, and they came to faith in Jesus not many months later (Mike was first). They began attending Valley Community Church in El Monte in 1988, an event which would eternally impact their family. Dyanna graduated high school in 1992, and that summer brought significant health challenges to both Mike and Kathi, but the family was able to reunite the following year. Mike & Kathi lived in West Covina and Covina after Dyanna moved out.

Kathi graduated to heaven in October 2008, and Mike went to live with Dyanna in Fullerton until his own heavenly home going 13 years later. God has been so faithful to the Hoage family!!!
