

John Joseph Nicoloro, age 81, of Arcadia, with his family at his side, went home to God Thursday morning, June 4, 2015 at Kaiser Hospital Baldwin Park. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Mary A. (Sebelia) Nicoloro and Michael J. Nicoloro. He grew up in Cambridge, always loving sports and his faith. John attended Harvard University, studying engineering, before moving to Southern California. He had a 38 year career with the City of Los Angeles, where he worked for Department of Water and Power and then The Bureau of Contract Administration. He retired in as a Senior Construction Inspector in 1995. Prior to retirement he spent several years inspecting the Los Angeles Convention Center Expansion. After retirement he returned to work during the Northridge earthquake cleanup and then the Ontario Airport expansion project in 1997. John was elected as a member of the Monrovia Arcadia Duarte Town Council, in 2004 and served until his passing. He was well known in the community for his volunteer role as Santa, which he looked forward to each Christmas. John was an avid reader, loved jazz music, and watching sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. He was a Roman Catholic and spent many years teaching 7th grade Religious Education. He loved coaching Little League and taught the fundamentals of baseball to many neighborhood boys and girls. John will always be remembered for his commitment to his family. John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucy; two brothers, Paul and Michael; four children, Michael, Christina, Johnny and Nancy; sons-in-law, John and Rick; daughter in law, Yvonne; and his grandchildren, Jordan, John, Claire, Isaiah, Chloe, Ora, Kaylan and Sabrina. The family would like to thank the staff at the Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Critical Care Unit, for the compassionate care they gave John in his final days. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 7pm, at Annunciation Church, 1307 Longden Ave., in Arcadia. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Annunciation Church.
