Loryn La Saundra Newton was born May 4, 1969 to her parents Lawyer and Saundra Newton. Loryn also was a twin. Her sister, Lorry LaVerdie Newton and Father preceded her in death. Loryn attended grade school in the Antelope Valley. She graduated from Palmdale High School with a scholarship. During her high school years she was considered to be an outstanding athlete. She received a letterman jacket and numerous awards for track and field relays, cross country awards and was also outstanding in basketball and she was a member of the Palmdale High School varsity basketball team. She attended Los Angeles City College where she majored in early childhood development.
Loryn loved to attend church and was a member of The Living in Christ Faith Ministries Church. She sang in the choir and assisted with the youth choir. Loryn's life was greatly influenced by her aunt Minnie Mae who spent countless hours and days showing endless love and support for her and her twin sister. Loryn held various jobs during her life, however, she never forgot her love for working with children. While under the tutelage of Cynthia Jackson James, she was able to enhance her skills and worked for several years as a assistant child care worker. Cynthia encouraged Loryn to be a high achiever and set positive goals in life and to reach for the stars.
Loryn was known for her friendly personality and her willingness to always help others. She loved interaction with her family and friends and often spoke of her endless love for her sister Lorry. Loryn is survived by her mother Saundra Chism Artley and Stepfather Charles Artley, her aunt Mennie Mae Muldrew and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
