February 10, 1941 – September 18, 2026
Marvin Paul Warman, beloved husband, father, great-grandfather, pastor, counselor, mentor, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on September 18, 2026, at the age of 85. Marv’s years of life were founded on his abiding faith in Jesus Christ and distinguished by his love and devotion to Joyce, his family, and all who were privileged to know him.
Marv was born on February 10, 1941, in Poona, India, and attended Sunrise Boarding School until the age of 14. Upon returning to Canada in 1955, he attended Earl Haig High School in Toronto, Ontario, and Caronport High School in Caronport, Saskatchewan. Marv proceeded to earn undergraduate degrees from the London College of Bible and Missions in London, Ontario, and Trinity College in Chicago; a master’s degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago; and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University in California.
In 1966, at Trinity College, Marv met the love of his life, Joyce Rempel. Marv and Joyce were married in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on June 29, 1968, and embarked on an extraordinary partnership for 58 years as they built a life together and established a family centered on faith, family, and ministry. All who knew Marv and Joyce witnessed a remarkable love story marked by faith, devotion, friendship, and warmth, highlighted by many cherished traditions, including coffee and freshly cut roses each morning, a weekly date (even in Marv’s final week of life), and nightly devotions and prayer together. These traditions extended to their children and grandchildren to include annual Disneyland weekends during the Christmas holidays and summer vacations on Quadra Island in British Columbia.
Marv and Joyce dedicated themselves to a lifetime of learning and service together in ministry. Beginning as youth pastors in 1968 in Turlock and Chico, they moved to Southern California in 1972 to serve as youth pastors at Emmanuel Church in Burbank and later on the pastoral staff at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena. With hearts united in devotion to ministry focused on family and marital relationships, Marv and Joyce together founded Warm an' Loving Ministries in 1983, singing and traveling as a family, and speaking, teaching, and counseling throughout Canada and the United States.
For more than five decades, Marv tirelessly dedicated his ministry efforts to strengthen marriages, encourage families, mentor young people, and to help people process the pain and trauma of life to discover genuine hope and healing through God's grace. He loved people without measure and demonstrated an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel seen and unconditionally valued. Marv was a quintessential “servant leader,” often pouring a cup of coffee, washing dishes, offering an encouraging touch, listening attentively without agenda, crying with those in sorrow, sharing words of wisdom and affirmation, and never skipping an opportunity for a “Marv joke” – a uniquely Marv-like blend of the classic dad joke with more details and an abundance of puns. Marv’s radiant warmth, godly wisdom, natural humility, and generous spirit leave a lasting influence on generations of loved ones and all who continue to benefit from his impact.
Above all, Marv's identity and purpose on this earth resided in his faith in Jesus Christ. He viewed people through the lens of God's grace and always directed them toward the Savior he loved. Those who loved Marv find comfort in knowing he finished his race well and in the certainty of his eternal home in the presence of his Lord and Savior, leaving a legacy that endures in the countless lives he touched and hearts restored, the family he cherished, and the love of his Savior he faithfully shared.
Marv is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce; daughters Michelle Jensen (Jeep), Marci Wendling (Tim), and Maria Boulin (Antoine); grandchildren Jackson Wendling, Mackenzie Koch (Cameron), Harrison Wendling, Trey Jensen, Aubrey Wendling, Lucy Wendling, Valita Boulin, Emil Boulin, and Alma Boulin; and great-grandson Rowan Koch. He is also survived by his sister Audrey Chitrala, brother Tim Warman, brother-in-law Syd Page, and sister-in-law Shirley Penner. He was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Halsey Warman, and sisters Faith Evelyn Warman and Faith Evangeline Page.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
