Sophia B. Ayala with loved ones by her side, was called to go with the lord.
Sophia, born to Luz and Bony Bartlett in White Oaks, New Mexico on May 5, 1916.
Survived by daughter, Rita Valdez (George).
Two sons, Dan (Donna) and Paul David (Maria)
and brother, Joe Duran (Dolores). Sophia's adored fourteen Grand Children:
Louis (Mary), Richard, (George (Renee) Romero
Brian (Michelle) Steve (Murphy) Randy,
Daniel (Nancy) Steve (Murphy) Randy,
Daniel (Nancy) David Ayala, and
Christy (Rick) Powell, Karen (David) Trogan.
Twenty - One Great Grand Children and Two Great-Great Grandchildren.
Sophia's early years in White Oaks, NM were happy years. Her parents, Brother Bony and Beloved sisters Isabel and she traveled to Arizona before settling in Roswell, NM.
Sophia met George L. Ayala in 1934 and married October 9, 1936.
They resided in Roswell and raised four children.
May 1970 Sophia + George moved to California. Avid sports fans they enjoyed many activities, especially college basketball coached by Dan. Attended many games and got involved with the teams also. Plus frequent visits to NM, NV + Colorado.
Sophia will be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother. A true friend and confidant to all who had the good fortune to know her.
Preceeded in death by her loving husband of sixty-three years George L. Ayala. Her loved daughter Maria Elena + Bernardo Hostettler her parents, her grandmother Josephine C. Bartlett, brother Bony Bartlett and sister Isabel B. Duran, favorite cousins, Minnie B. Anaya, Bill Bartlett and Savina Torres. Many more who were all close and dear to her heart.
