2022, in Arcadia, California at the age of 92.
Virginia was born in 1929 in Santa Ana California and graduated from Bishop Johnson
school of nursing in 1950. She married Patrick Carlin in 1952 and they raised two
children Nancy and Paul. Sadly her husband Pat, a firefighter, died at a young age in
1981. Although she was a young widow she vowed to keep herself active and she did
so, well into her eighties until dementia claimed her abilities.
Virginia was actively involved in her church, Church of the Transfiguration in Arcadia,
for 65 years including acting as Altar Guild Director and singing in the choir. When the
kids were grown she returned to nursing and worked part time in the first aid station at
Dodger Stadium for 20 years.
Virginia enjoyed traveling, playing bunco, going to the theater, and meeting weekly with
her quilting friends. She was a wonderful seamstress and quilter and won many blue
ribbons at the Los Angeles County fair. For 40 years she enjoyed going to her
timeshare in Kona Hawaii, spending time with her daughter and good friends from
Seattle.
Virginia is survived by her children, Nancy and Paul, daughter-in-law Kim, and
granddaughter Callie. Her devoted caregiver Jay Hualde pre-deceased her in July
2021.
