
Wendell Eugene Long, 72, passed away on June 9, 2026. Born on January 30, 1954, Wendell was a beloved presence in the lives of those who knew him, remembered with deep respect for the steady devotion and loyalty he showed to the people he loved. He lived in Rosemead, California.
Wendell grew up in Monrovia, California, and graduated from Monrovia High School in 1968. From early on, he carried himself with a quiet wisdom—observant, thoughtful, and steady—qualities that would remain hallmarks of his life.
He served in the United States Navy and later dedicated 38 years of hard work to Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. His strong work ethic was evident in the consistency and pride he brought to his responsibilities, and those who worked alongside him knew him as someone you could count on. Away from work, Wendell found joy and freedom riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, a pastime that reflected his independent spirit and love of the open road.
Wendell’s life was shaped by the family he cherished. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Marcia Pierce. He is survived by his children, Danyale Dumont and Kevin Pierce; his grandchildren, Robert Pierce, Troy Pierce, Kristina Pierce, Benjamin Dumont, and Nicholas Dumont; and his fiance, Sherri Wallace. His care for others—especially those closest to him—was constant and unmistakable, expressed in the everyday ways he showed up, listened, and stood by his family with unwavering loyalty.
In his personal time, Wendell enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, trips to Las Vegas, and coin collecting. These interests brought him simple pleasures and lasting memories shared with those around him. Known for being very caring and remarkably smart, he offered compassion with a steady hand and a clear mind, leaving an example of strength guided by kindness.
