October 30, 1946 – April 6, 2021
William “Bill” Manuel Gomez, 74, of Bullhead City, AZ passed away on April 6, 2021. He was born on October 30, 1946 to Manuel and Nora Gomez in Pasadena, California where he grew up, went to school and began his adult life.
Bill lived an extraordinary and full life. His love of his country began as a young man. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served with India Company 3rd Battalion 5th Marines. He promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps after exceeding their standards for performance and personal conduct after 11 years of service. He went on to work for the City of Pasadena where he served the community for 32 years, promoting to the position of Public Works Supervisor and also served as a volunteer Police Officer for the City.
Bill’s love of country and service did not stop when he was honorably discharged. He loved talking to other Marines whether young or just young at heart. He kept up to date on all things Marines and attended any Marine Corps or Veteran-related event he could. He participated and was active in several Marine Corps and Veteran groups and organizations. There were two especially dear to him. He was a part of the Semper Fi #1 Memorial Honor Detail, where he willingly honored fallen Marines and served their families who had been left behind. Even if he did not know the Marine personally, they were still his brothers and he honored them and was thankful for their service. The other organization he proudly served with was the Marine Toys for Tots. He served hundreds of less fortunate children over many years, dedicating his time and donating to this worthy cause. He was a faithful Marine until the end, and a true hero to all who knew him.
Bill was a tireless and selfless volunteer for many other things as well. Anyone who knew him knew that he was a helpful person who was always willing to lend a hand. From moving, hauling, yard work, to providing transportation or just lending an ear, Bill did all this and more. He was a faithful friend and always ready and willing to help in any way he could.
In between working and serving others, Bill enjoyed spending time with friends and family, restoring cars, camping, and he loved his animals. He is survived by his beloved Daughter, Michelle Trunnell (Eric Trunnell), his Grandson, William Trunnell and his Sister, Mary Olivan. Bill will always be remembered by everyone he knew; he was a special person and he will be greatly missed.
