BARCLAY, Bruce Walter
1937-2014
It is with a huge sense of loss that we announce the passing of Bruce Barclay of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec on Saturday, August 23, 2014. Beloved husband, soul mate and companion for 35 years to Kim Truscott, passing away at home after a valiant fight against Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) which robbed us of him far too early.
Loving father to Wayne, Cindy, Jason (Donna) and Selena and grandfather to Nakita, Amber, Jonathan, Alanna and 3 great-grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law of Julie and Steve Borisko and Ursula Barclay and loving Uncle Brucie to Adam, Meghan, Arlis (Francis) and great-uncle to Lauren. He is pre-deceased by his parents Elsie and Walter Barclay and brothers, Ron and Wayne Barclay with whom he was especially close.
He will be sorely missed by many, many devoted friends who became part of his extended family and his beloved pets Martha, Purrcy and Wally who brought him much joy. Bruce and Kim shared a great sense of adventure and loved to travel including to his ancestral home the 'Barclay Castle' in Towie, Scotland as well as working and living in England and China where they made many life-long friends. He loved to ski, bike, run and read. He was very kind hearted, generous in showing his love and emotions, always positive and loved all animals and nature. He had a loud infectious laugh and enjoyed his Guinness, Italian red wine, Coronation Street and English football.
There is a huge hole in our hearts with his passing but our hearts are bigger because Bruce is a part of them.
Kim would like to thank the staff for the special and compassionate care that Bruce received while in Hôpital régional de Saint-Jérôme and respiratory therapist Hélène Gagnon, Doctor Cournoyer and his staff. Kim is also very appreciative of the help and support of the CLSC de Mont-Tremblant and their amazing support staff, Laurentians Care and Palliacco.
A joyful celebration of Bruce's life will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at 112 Rue Decaire, Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. No flowers, but please plant a tree somewhere that needs one.
Donations in Bruce’s name to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (CPFF) would be greatly appreciated, www.canadianpulmonaryfibrosis.ca/get-involved/donate/ . September is Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness month so others can be made aware of this terrible disease.
