She excelled in academics which earned her a scholarship to the University of Southern California. She would have to side step her education due to our father’s untimely death. She worked in food services for over 25 years at USC LA County hospital, there she made the workplace a place to be. She was well respected by her coworkers.
Our sister lived a huge life always looking out for her family, especially her nieces, who were her pride and joy.
When she suffered a stroke, she did not let that limit her life. She lived her life on her own terms: she surfed, rock climbed and skied. She assisted fellow stroke survivors as a peer mentor making friends with everybody she met. At times when she wasn’t feeling 100%, she would bounce right back and ask what she could do to help others. Our sister was always there to lend a hand.
Our sister Maria will be dearly missed by her family, friends, acquaintances and everyone who met her.
