With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Ellen Sanchez, who left us peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on August 18, 1935, Mary Ellen's life was a testament to love, dedication, and kindness. She touched the hearts of all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy that will live on forever in our hearts.
Mary Ellen dedicated her life to her family, nurturing us with an unwavering love that knew no bounds. She was a constant source of support and encouragement, shaping us into the individuals we are today. Her nurturing spirit extended to all those around her, and her generosity of heart was evident in everything she did. She believed deeply in the power of family and cherished every moment spent with those she loved.
Her passion for gardening was one of the many joys she embraced. Mary Ellen had a unique way of tending to her plants, making them flourish just as she did with her family. Crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones were some of her greatest pleasures, bringing her a sense of fulfillment and happiness.
In her later years, she found joy in visiting the Pala Casino and enjoyed the small adventures life offered. Her unwavering faith in St. Jude guided her throughout her life, and she took comfort in her devotion to him.
Mary Ellen was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Joe, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Joe (Dorothy), Susie (Oscar), Danny (Flor), and Rick; her grandchildren, Oscar (Valerie), Lori, Natalie, Jamie (Jaice), Joey, Sydney, Chris (Alice), and Brennan; and her great-grandchildren, Madison, Cassian, Daisy, Azalea, Artem, Joey Jr., Liz, Alivia, and Audrey. She also leaves behind her cherished siblings, Elvia, Yolie, Martha, Lydia, and Eddie, as well as a host of friends and extended family who will miss her dearly.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Mary Ellen’s life will be held on February 10th, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM (Rosary and Viewing) at Funeraria del Angel, followed by a Funeral Service on February 11th at St. Benedict Church in Montebello.
Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we find comfort in the countless beautiful memories she has left behind. We know that her spirit is at peace, and her love will continue to guide us every day. Mary Ellen’s light will shine in our lives forever, and we take solace in knowing that she will always be with us in spirit.
Rest in peace, Mom. You are deeply missed, but your love, warmth, and light will remain in our hearts forever.
