Sandra G. Cornejo, 91, born June 26, 1935, in Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on July 5, 2026. A resident of Commerce, California, Sandra will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who had the privilege to know her.
For five decades, Sandra dedicated herself to steady, meaningful work, serving children through school and church and giving her time to community services. Her life reflected a faithful spirit and a tireless willingness to show up, do what needed to be done, and do it with care. In every setting, she carried herself with honesty and quiet strength, offering thoughtful attention to people and the needs right in front of her.
Sandra shared more than 60 years of marriage with the love of her life, Robert Cornejo. She is survived by her children, Robert Cornejo, Gloria Dollins, Christine Maples, and Cynthia Cornejo; as well as 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her devotion to family was constant—resilient through life’s changes, generous in everyday ways, and compassionate in moments when it mattered most.
Even while raising her children, Sandra made room for the simple joys that kept her spirit bright. She played softball, and she loved golf, bowling, and travel. Those who spent time with her knew that warmth and good humor often arrived together—an encouraging word, a steady presence, and a kindness that never felt forced, only sincere.
Sandra’s commitment to her community was both extensive and deeply personal. She was a member of the PTA and the school site council, served as chairperson of the city park and recreation commission, and was president of the Rosewood Park Women’s Club. In her church, she taught religious education and served on the church council. Through these roles, she became a dependable source of guidance and an example of hard work joined with genuine concern for others.
Above all, Sandra was loyal to her family, friends, and community. She made time for people—especially those in need—listening with patience, offering advice with care, and giving from the heart. Her life remains an inspiration, not through grand claims, but through a legacy of faithful service, steadfast love, and a compassion that will be remembered for years to come.
