Alice Frances "Frankie" Coston, 80, of Alabaster, Alabama, entered into Eternal Life on June 18, 2026. Born April 17, 1946, Frankie was a woman whose steady faith and gentle kindness shaped the lives of those who knew and loved her, leaving a legacy marked by compassion, wisdom, and enduring faith.
Raised among the foothills of Oak Mountain in Pelham, Alabama, Frankie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age and was a faithful member of Pelham Church of God. She loved The Lord and her family fiercely and had a quiet strength that showed in the way she listened, encouraged, and cared for others. In every season of life, Frankie was beloved for the warmth she offered so freely and the thoughtful guidance she gave with grace.
Frankie began her career at South Highlands Hospital in the Physical Therapy Department in 1980, serving as an administrative assistant for more than 30 years. There she made lifelong friends whom she dearly loved. Through the transitions to Health South and UAB Highlands Hospital, Frankie remained a steady presence: reliable, considerate, and attentive to the needs of those around her. Frankie's work reflected the same compassionate spirit that defined her life beyond the workplace.
During her retirement, Frankie found joy in quiet, life-giving pursuits. She loved bird watching, listening to gospel music, and enjoyed tending to her many house plants. These small daily acts of care mirrored the tenderness and patience she brought to her relationships and her home. Frankie especially enjoyed spending time with family and shopping with her sister, Sarah.
Frankie is survived by her daughters, Kerrie Bailey Haynie (Scott), Laura Bailey Smith, and Jenny Dunnam Garner; son, Chuck Dunnam; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and her sister and best friend, Sarah Richards.
A special thank you to granddaughters, Lauren Haynie, Emily Haynie Martinez, Bailey Smith, and sister, Sarah Richards for helping provide care, comfort, and joy over the last several months for their precious Nana and sister.
A visitation will be held at Pelham Church of God on June 23, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a funeral service to immediately follow.
