It is with the deepest sorrow that we mourn the sudden passing of Antonio “Tony” Montalvo III on September 20, 2020.
Born to Wanda Serrano and Antonio Montalvo on September 12, 1994, Tony spent his early childhood in Chicago, New Jersey, and Seattle. At the age of 12, he was formally adopted by Cassandra Givens and Isabelo Serrano, at which point he became a cherished member of the Pelham community.
Although he was only 26 at the time of his death, Tony deeply affected the lives of those who knew and came to love him. Known for his ardor for music and dancing, Tony was an amateur guitar player who loved to gather with his friends and engage in impromptu vocal sessions. A young man who never met a stranger, Tony brightened the room with his broad smile and vivacious sense of humor. His progressive ideals permitted him to maintain friendships with people from all walks of life, and his kindness was best espoused through his love of children and animal rescues.
Tony was passionate about sports, having served as a gifted member of the Pelham High School wrestling team – a sport which inspired him to dedicate himself to fitness for the balance of his life. During the fall and winter seasons, Tony could be found rooting for his beloved New England Patriots, as well as the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Informed by his love of the outdoors and artistry, Tony made a career of landscape architecture and custom signage. With a passion for the simple pleasures of life, he aspired to be a homeowner with a small garden and his own landscaping company.
Tony is survived by his loving family: his mother, Cassandra Givens, his father Isabelo Serrano, his sisters Marisa Trinidad, Margarita Serrano, and Kierra Nelson, and his brother Andrieko Serrano.
A celebration of life will be held for Tony at Rockco Funeral Home at 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm
