Betty Jo Harless, age 81, of Maylene, died September 22, 2015. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James L. Payne, Frank Payne, Jr. and Curtis Wayne Payne; and her parents, Frank and Mary Agnes Payne. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John B. Harless; daughter, Debbie Harless Parrish (Jason) of Vestavia Hills, AL; son, Johnathan Keith Harless (Gayle) of Maylene, AL; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Betty Jo was a member of Hickory Hills Church and anything that had to do with her family and her Lord was important to her. She taught Sunday School for many years, sang with the worship team and left a wonderful example of how a Godly woman should live. She enjoyed camping with her family, cooking and making her famous red velvet cake.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Hickory Hills Church in Alabaster, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera. Serving as pallbearers are Jason Parrish, Bobby Self, Juston Cutcher, Russel Raymond, Brandon Tennyson and Matthew Harless.
