Bruce Kellogg Hines, age 81, of Pelham, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Bruce was born February 18, 1940 to Ernest Frank Hines and Ellen Harriet Kellogg in New London, Connecticut where he was raised along with three siblings. Bruce was always very intelligent mostly self taught. As a child, he and his father built their home single handedly. After graduating high school, Bruce joined the Air Force where he specialized as an Electronic Intercept Operations Analysis Specialist. Bruce spent time in both Turkey and Germany and earned the Good Conduct Medal during his service. Once Bruce returned to the states, he met the love of his life Francine "Fran" Terrell and they began a life long romance. Together they would have four children of their own. For 46 years Bruce worked as a cross country truck driver while Fran held down the home front and the children. When he wasn't on the road, Bruce enjoyed riding and tinkering with motorcycles, farming, architecture, exercising his 2nd amendment right, working with Bill Glass Prison Ministry and spending time with his family. As the years went on and the nest emptied, he and Fran enjoyed taking trips to Daytona Beach and especially Pigeon Forge, where they had a favorite cabin in the mountains. Soon grandchildren came and Bruce found a new passion in being the best Pa-Pa any child could ask for. Bruce was never the type to sit still and worked until he was forced to stop at 75 years old. Even after he could no longer work and get around as he once did, Bruce never lost his sense of humor, his faith in the Lord, or his love for his family.
Bruce will join in Heaven his parents, Ernest and Ellen Hines; dearly missed daughter, Emily Holbert; beloved granddaughter, Lauren Dillard; and siblings, Barbara Spears, Winsome Cover, and Kenneth Hines.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his soul mate and wife of 57 years, Emily "Fran" Hines; children, Jeanine Hedepeth, Bryan Hines, and Heather Moseley; grandchildren, Ellen Davis, and Rebekah Moseley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bruce touched so many lives through his service, his ministry, and his friendship, he will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
A committal service will be held at Alabama National Cemetery on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 2:45 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo, Alabama.
