Chris Ballentine, age 58, of Montevallo, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2017, just one day after his birthday. He received both of his degrees from the University of Montevallo. He enjoyed working with his hands, working in several fields during his career. Chris also enjoyed golfing, reading, and watching Star Trek, American Westerns and World War II films. He was an avid Alabama fan, watching every Saturday ball game he could. He met the love of his life on a blind date at Vestavia Bowl in 1979. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard E. Ballentine and Maryalice Callanan Ballentine. He is survived by his wife, Mariko Ikegami Ballentine; daughters, Jessica Prince (Chris) of Hoover, AL and Catherine Ballentine of Montevallo, AL; son, Eric Ballentine of Montevallo, AL; sister, Barbara Sinnott (John) of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, John Gregory Ballentine (Martha) of Arlington, VA; sisters-in-law, Junko Ikegami Starks (John) of Herndon, VA and Mitsuko Hoshino of Japan; and he is expecting his first grandson, Logan Prince, in September.
