David “Pop” Holcombe, age 71, of Brierfield, AL, went Home on May 12, 2015. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Army. He retired from the Walmart in Calera. He loved hunting, fishing, grilling for his children and grandchildren, and watching Alabama football. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.C. and Elvie Holcombe; youngest daughter, Jennifer Hyde; and granddaughter, Ashley Church. Pop is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary “Kathy” Holcombe; sons, Bo Holcombe (Susan) and Keith Holcombe (Kathy); daughter, Alicia Church (Oscar); 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary and Ruth. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14 from 6-8PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). Funeral services on Friday, May 15 at 11:30AM at Rockco, with burial to follow at Alabama National Cemetery at 12:30PM. Bro. Jeff Holsomback will officiate.
